Jim Cobb & Bob Dog create a live sonic backdrop to new disturbing and provocative digital artworks.

"The most striking aspect of these children is the new skin the artist has given them. Other than their hands, faces and the plaid underpants they wear, their skin is a welter of tattoos. The tattoos come from a wide-mouthed river of sources - religion, botany, popular culture, and zoology, among others. That breadth makes them resemble the archive of references bequeathed to all of us from birth, as we become socialized. The artist thus weaves together our cultural-historical memory and makes it visible on the litmus paper of the skin. He could be depicting members of a different species, or he could be showing us ourselves, if enculturation were a lightening strike and tangible."

Jim Cobbs images are a natural extension of his paintings and his audio work a natural progression within the digital process. OUR CHILDREN is a series of light-jet prints of children scanned and manipulated on computer. The full-body "illustrations" provide a layer of free-associative narrative with a large nod to traditional tattooing themes and motifs. It is this associative aspect coupled with the use of children that seems to provoke highly individual responses to the work.

The audio performance is composed from the voices of these same children and provides another layer of associative narrative. The sonic work is performed using laptops and LIVE software.

Based in San Antonio, Texas, Cobb & Bob are members of experimental sound group Pseudo Buddah. They promote events in Texas and distribute audio work via their DogFingers record label.
