Awarded as part of Cardiff art In Time
The John Boehme Lifetime Achievement Award Award
Recipient: Alastair MacLennan
Normally the award ‘for performance excellance’ is
for a work produced during the regular season at TRACE.
However for Cardiff Art In Time it was decided to present a special
award to Alastair MacLennan in recognition of his artistic vision
& achievement in the field of performance art over the past
thirty five years.
The award also honours his contribution to art education as a professor
of Fine Art at the University of Ulster in Belfast and for the profound
influence he has had, and continues to have, among successive generations
of emerging artists.
‘Art to me is the demonstrated wish and will to resolve
inner and outer conflict and that pertains to every sphere of human
activity in all aspects of everyday life. The problem is to live
this, not simply talk it. Words are easy.’
