"Are you still here?" is one of a series of performances about our relationship to the past, and the search for signs from those who have gone before.

Marilyn Arsem creates live art ranging from solo gallery performances to site-specific, audience-interactive events. Many of her recent pieces reveal hidden worlds that lie beneath the surface, ones that lurk underground, and those which eventually decay and dissolve back into the earth. The work often hovers at the edge of visibility, blurring the boundaries between art and life. Because of the almost imperceptible images, and the inevitable intrusions of the real world, the viewers' interpretation of the experience have as much to do with their own projections and concerns as it does with the artist's.

Marilyn Arsem has been creating live events since 1975, ranging from solo performances to large scale, site-specific works incorporating installation and performance. Arsem has presented work at festivals, alternative spaces, galleries, museums and universities throughout Europe, Asia, North and South America.

Arsem is the founder of Mobius, a twenty-five year old interdisciplinary collaborative of artists who operated a performance/exhibition space in Boston for twenty years. She has been on the faculty of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston since 1987.
