Jordan Mckenzies work has traversed the territories of investigations
into obsessional behaviour and 'queer' culture creating difficult
and contentious work centred on the body. Recent work has extended
his interest in relation to the physicality of drawing, most notably
at the Arnolfini in 2002 with a durational installaction exhibition,
Untitled [DIE].
McKenzie continues his investigation into drawing as a performative
act with body/mark, a series of drawings
that consider the body as site.
Drawing explored as an action that articulates the body in space,
a way of locating the body within architectural place. These actions
cross the lines between performance, drawing and sculpture, meeting
at a point where the body and the mark [drawing] break through the
terrain of traditional definition and establish new dialogues and
relationships.
Jordan Mckenzie has produced work throughout
the UK and Europe and his received his MA at Nottingham Trent University
where he now teaches
