Wild Oats and Cornerstones
To heal the fractured birdsong, the injured child, the divided
self, the wounded land.
To demythologise the myth, to heal the healer.
Our destination will be where we begin.
The 'end' is the 'beginning'
Only the journey is important.
Through what we see on the journey, how we experience the journey,
how we live the journey, we will be prepared for reaching the final
space and knowing it for the first time.
The space will not have changed, we will have changed, not by reaching
our destination but by making the journey.
Danny MacCarthy's work often thematically centres upon icons and
experience of 'Irishness'. He pursues this recurrent theme in a
range of media including performance sonic art, installation and
public sculpture. He is an important figure on the Irish art scene
having produced and directed numerous arts events and projects as
well as being the founder of Triskel Arts Centre in Cork , Ireland's
leading live art venue. McCarthy¹s work has
been exhibited worldwide, he most recently took part in Span2 London's
biggest performance art festival for over a decade.
