installation exhibition
Sat/Sun 3rd - 24th March 2002

Brian Connolly's practice embraces a range of contemporary art forms and media in pursuit of artworks that reveal evocative, sometimes hidden, layers of a particular place. His work passionately challenges societal views of history, culture & politics and he attaches particular importance to considering the role of art within contemporary culture. He has participated extensively in artist-initiated projects in Europe as well as in Canada, Mexico, Ireland and the UK. He has a history of initiating artists' projects including the influential 'Available Resources' in Derry. He is a board member of the Artists Association of Ireland, the Sculptors Society of Ireland and is a member of the editorial board of Circa Contemporary Art Magazine, Ireland.

At trace: he will be initiating a series of games, activities and tasks as host and facilitator. These activities will create a layering in the hope of drawing comparisons with the complexity of contemporary existence within an increasingly Globalised economic structure.

"I would also be delighted to contrive a sense of visual absurdity and fun in our endeavour......Something will be left for posterity"
