Empowered sisterhood; energetic, without compromises, sonic and
at the border.
During a preparation workweek on site, in Cardiff, up until the
opening of the exhibition HHS will make a series of activities in
public spaces. The purpose of the actions are to create experiences
of the cities ongoing ideological negotiations and of our self in
relation to the ongoing discourse. Some of the results of this research,
or experiences gathered, in the form of texts, video documentations
etc., will be shown at Trace, blended with traces left from the
opening performance.
High Heel Sisters work take as its starting point the mutual and
diversed experiences of being taller than 178 cm, wearing shoes
biggerthan size 41 and being older than 30 years. These common experiences
are aimed at making
a feministic attack on our own, as well as, on the rules and boundaries
of society. HHS work within the field of poetic politics!
The three members of High Heel Sisters formed their collaboration
in 2002 and has since then showed their works throughout the Nordic
countries as well as internationally. Their back catalouge consists
of
gallery based and sitespecific performances and includes 'Art Holes',
Lars Bohman Gallery; The Projectroom in Stockholm, Sweden and Three
Pieces by HHS, Blunk Project Room, Trondheim, Norway. They were
invited to make their performance piece 'Never Too Much' at the
ICA, London, in 2003 and at Black Box Kilen, Culturehouse, Stockholm,
Sweden in 2004.
Their most recent work 'High Art Fraktione' was peroduced as part
of Scandinavian Performance Art in NRW; E.P.I. Zentrum in Machinenhaus,
Essen, Germany.
