Cyril Lepetit was born in Cherbourg, France. He studied and at the Ecole Superieure des Beaux-arts de Caen and the Ulster College of Art, Belfast. After living in Paris for several years, he spent 4 months on an art residency in Japan and Taiwan in 1999. Since 2000 he is been living and working in London.

Following his recent solo-show Infidelite Respectuseuse at the Normandy Contemporary Art Centre, he has just published a livre d'artiste of the same tittle. (Published by Wharf & FRAC Basse-Normandie).

In creating devices or putting into place actions, in contexts I've borrowed from reality, I create situations that I call 'fantasised'. They deal with sexuality, and with existence. They are usually devised to receive visitors, in the expectation of their reaction, of their taking a stance. Out of a concern for fairness, or perhaps simply out of a desire to bring myself closer to other individuals, I involve myself in these situations. It will be with this same process in mind that I will attempt to redesign a boudoir in the Trace Gallery. On the day of the performance the audience will be invited to make its way from a fountain presented in the garden of the Gallery to the naive exhibition in the boudoir.
